Bannister Neighborhood was established in 1973 as part of the St. Charles Plan Unit Development (PUD). It is a mature neighborhood and remains a great community in which to reside. Bannister is comprised of a variety of single-family homes, condominiums, townhomes, apartments, and commercial properties totaling 1,374 addresses.

The residents in good standing with the association may enjoy the neighborhood’s many amenities which includes a community swimming pool.  The pool is over twelve feet deep which allows for diving and a water slide. Residents enjoy the Nemo’s shallow end bench of the pool which is a wonderful place to relax for parents of young swimmers.  Families with young children can enjoy the fenced in baby pool for children 5 years of age and under. On the pool property there is a pavilion which can be rented for children’s birthday parties and other occasions. The pool is host to the Bannister Barracuda Swim Team which has been competing for over 35 years. Residents also appreciate the newly refurbished tennis courts and a brand-new state of the art playground, as well as several miles of hiker-biker trails.

In the near future, Eva Turner Elementary School and Benjamin Stoddert Middle School with be completely renovated. These are schools that are in walking distance from our neighborhood. After promotion from middle school, students can enjoy a short bus ride to the newest high school in Charles County, St. Charles High School. The community is located within walking distance to a major grocery store, drug stores, a convenience store, a public library, dry cleaners, and a host of eating establishments.

The aesthetics of mature trees and sense of community makes Bannister one of the best communities in St. Charles.
